Contagion Effect Covid-19 Terhadap Pasar Modal Syariah Di Kawasan Asia Pasifik

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic affected not only on the public healthy aspect, but also affected economics, politics, tourism, and other aspects. On the economic side, the Covid-19 pandemic had a huge impact on financial markets, including Islamic stocks. This study aims to analyze the contagion effect during Covid-19 pandemic on Islamic Stock Indexes in  Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Asia Pacific. This study used VAR (Vector Auto Regressive), VECM (Vector Error Correction Model), IRF (Impuls Response Function ) and Granger Causality to analyze the hypothesis with E-Views 12 as analytic tools. This study sample was closing price data for each index with observation period from 1^st January 2020 to 31^st January 2022. The results show that there was contagion effect on all Islamic Stock Indexes during Covid-19 pandemic.

 Pandemi Covid-19 tidak hanya mempengaruhi aspek kesehatan manusia saja namun mempengaruhi aspek ekonomi, politik, pariwisata, hingga aspek-aspek lainnya. Di sisi ekonomi, pandemi Covid-19 berdampak besar pada pasar modal, termasuk pasar modal syariah. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk menganalisis hubungan contagion effect yang terjadi selama pandemi Covid-19 terhadap indeks syariah dan di Indonesia, Malaysia, China, dan Asia Pasifik. Penelitian ini menggunakan IRF (Impuls Response Function) dan Uji Kausalitas Granger untuk menguji hipotesis dengan menggunakan E-Views 12 sebagai alat analisis. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah harga penutupan untuk masing-masing indeks dengan periode pengamatan dari 1 Januari 2020 sampai 31 Januari 2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi efek domino (contagion effect) pada indeks syariah dan indeks konvensional selama pandemi Covid-19.
